If you stand on a ledge and spam boost off of it from a dead stand, you will boost once or twice then just stay in place. Regardless of how much more boosts you try to do, you will stay in one spot in air until you run out of fuel.
Also, if you try to land directly on a targets head, you fly horizontally instead of down onto them. Angle doesn't matter, it almost always happens.
