Animesh BETA Testing

Post by saerasong »

Animesh is a feature that enables animation on non-attachments (MOVING NPCs WOO). While it is more efficient than prim animations or alpha texture-loop animations (eg. script time, render weight), it unfortunately increases the land impact of the mesh tremendously (adds 200 Land impact during the testing)

We are planning a petition for SL to fix this. We need everyone within the SL community to show up in the Beta Grid and bring your most laggy prim or texture-loop animated items. For example:
Spoiler!

If you'd like to participate (and we highly encourage it), login at any point before Friday Nov 03 to allow at least 24 hours for your items from the regular grid to sync up with your beta grid login.

Follow the instructions below to get the SL Animesh viewer and login to the Beta grid:

What is Animesh

Viewer download (Scroll down till you see "Second Life Project Animesh Channel")

After installing viewer, hit 'Ctrl+Shift+G' in the login window. You will see an option under the location drop down menu. Choose "Second Life Beta Test" and LOG THE FUCK IN.

We cannot allow Linden Lab to botch this, as our community's numbers dwindle it is of the utmost importance that we can supplement our former numbers with AI. Chaos's Zombies are a good example of everything that is currently wrong with animating humanoid Objects. However cutting the script time does not create an even trade, At the current way things are for our Zombies which we'll continue to use as an example as we discuss this more. The cost of 10 Zombies goes from 180 Land Impact to a Massive 2180. Our region usually sits between 5-8K Free Prims, but most groups have homesteads so we can entirely rule out using Animesh NPC's in a homestead at all. 200 Land Impact doesn't seem to bad if it's a single object but the point of this project for us as a community is to create something more "game-like" We can't do that with how this is. This weekend I'll be drafting a JIRA, I'll be posting it on the offiricial thing even if it's a duplicate we need to document things a lot more, we need everyone in our community aware and active for this. Minus and I have already started reaching out to other creators we know and I encourage you guys to do the same.
