ARK is awful because it's a building game where all the things you build serve to make you build more shit.

Quetzal? You build a base on it. Mammoth? It cuts down trees to build more things. T-Rex? You use it to murder things to get meat to tame more things and have more food for yourself.

There's nothing interesting in the base game. There's no intricacy to the infrastructure. I enjoy the piping the most because it's somewhat interesting to pipe things out, but the caves? You can't bring ANYTHING into the caves and there's almost no point in going in them past a certain point. There's no undersea caves to explore.

There's nothing to fucking do in the game that actually uses the game mechanics to have any fun. It's either building, waiting, or wandering around aimlessly. The player interaction is boring too- there combat system is fucking boring, and everyone runs a million miles an hour and has stupidly high resistances so you're wacking bullet sponges running a million miles an hour and healing themselves whenever they feel like it.

This game is so fucking bad, and it's irritating because if they actually added a GAME to it, it could be so interesting.

I lied the caves are OK now but the game still fucking sucks and there's no reason to play it for more than 2 hours in singleplayer.
